SAMUEL HARRINGTON WEDIG
I am embarrassed to say that he is already a month old and I am just getting around to blogging about him... what can I say, we have been having way too much fun cuddling to blog. Anyway, Samuel arrived on Friday, December 28 at 9:42 a.m. weighing in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and measuring 21 inches long. Here is how it all went down...
Of course, I was couldn't believe that I made it through Christmas and was still pregnant. We had our weekly appointment on December 26 and everything looked good... except HE was still breech. Dr. Grant finally admitted that he didn't think that he would turn and that we probably needed to go ahead and get a c-section on the calendar. The tentative date we left the office with was December 31- he said they would call on Thursday or Friday and confirm. So, off Mark and I go thinking that we had 4 more days until our world would change... plenty of time to get the Christmas stuff put away, plenty of time to get the house clean, plenty of time to finish grading my papers and enter my grades for the semester. Thursday morning around 11:00, I was grading papers and Mark was getting ready to run a few errands before he had to go to work that evening when Dr. Grant called. He said that scheduling was a nightmare because of the New Year's holiday, Dr. McCoy (the doctor who was delivering us) wasn't on call on Monday, and since we were already at 39 weeks he wanted to schedule our delivery for FRIDAY! Holy Moly... talk about a reality check. Mark instantly said that he thought he was going to vomit... I quickly told him there was no time, we had too much to do. So while I frantically finished grading my papers and entering my grades (thank God I was almost finished when he called), Mark put all the Christmas "stuff" away and cleaned the house. We packed the last minute items, took the dog to the vet's office for boarding, and headed to Bentley's for our last dinner for two for awhile. We were so full of so many emotions- it was definitely an evening I will never forget.
To say that Mark and I feel blessed is the understatement of the year.
